Operation Christmas Child
2009
UPDATE FEB 2010
Sharing the Gospel message is at the heart of Operation Christmas Child. We are deeply grateful for your faithful prayers and enthusiastic participation in the project in 2009. Over 8.1 million shoe box gifts-the most ever-were collected this past holiday season, with the United States contributing 5.2 million of those gifts. Because of people like your, boys and girls around the world will now have the opportunity to hear the Good News of God’s greatest gift, Jesus Christ!
Operation Christmas Child is unique. The gift does not stop with the shoe box itself. Children are introduced to Jesus through colorful Gospel booklets handed out during the distributions. Local churches invite them to a follow-up discipleship program that includes a series of engaging Bible lessons. Graduates receive a New Testament to encourage them to learn more about the Savior. As they grow in their faith, these same children become witnesses of God’s love in their communities.
Thank you again for all you have done to make this year’s Operation Christmas Child such a success
This just in! The California Processing Center will be sending shoe box gifts to: Mongolia, Indonesia, Peru, China, and the Philippines. Each country will be supplied with shoe boxes as they filter through the processing center, so we won't know exactly which country our shoe boxes will go to until they get down to California but at least we have it somewhat narrowed down!
We are anticipating a fantastic year and the Lord is going to do great and might things with a simple shoe box! Pack a box and put a smile on a child’s face this year. In 2008 we collected over 1300 shoe boxes from ABT families and we expect even more for 2009!
As a collection station for the State of Alaska we will be open from Monday, November 16 through Monday, November 23 for shoe box drop offs located in the lobby of the Anchorage Baptist Temple.
Our year-round area team would like to thank everyone who is participating this year in creating so many new gospel opportunities.
